Here's some video of the app that I wrote using my delicious script, an ajax progress indicator and scriptaculous effects. It's not very exciting, but it does show the behaviors in a more explicit way than just reading about it. I have another video I hope to post soon where I go over the actual code a bit.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

This web2.0 crap really brings out the worst in people. "Ohh look at it spin!, fade in-out..."

Thank you for that wonderful and insightful commentary, Devon! I'm so glad you stopped by!

Your welcome and it's okay. The web forgives you. In all honesty and on a serious note. This is really less than impressive. Unless I am missing something here? But fade ins/outs, a search and a spinner really isn't something to be impressed about. It's nowhere near hard to do. Your boolean search options kinda point to being pointless. I mean you should have all enabled and allow the user to be able to de-select what they want to view, right?

The most popular article by far on RubyNoob is the one about the Ajax in-progress spinner. Tons of people are interested in simple, dynamic things they can add to their apps. The point of my del.icio.us app is mostly to serve as a showcase for the various tutorials here on RubyNoob. The point of all the ajax stuff isn't to be impressive. It's only there to serve as a way to show people how to add stuff like that to their own apps. I'm not showcasing it as a production app. It's only a teaching tool. And, yes, it may be trivial for you, but I get a lot more traffic than I expected from people who are looking for very simple things.

Also, if you take a look at the most recent tutorials, the videos there show a slight evolution of the app. Eventually it will be a bit less pointless. However, I have no intention of it ever being a blockbuster money-making web app. It's my vehicle for learning and teaching.

Devon, I was wondering if you are a teenager. It's just that I know teenagers say and write things like you have done here all the time. Especially to the people who are tring to help us the most. The web/2.0 has no place for eliteisim.

Well, I thought that it was a nice little application even if others didn’t, good job.

Many people just don’t appreciate things that some people do to help others, which makes them less-likely to do so in the future. It annoys me.

Interesting article, and it might be useful to me.
